As we were looking back over our Instagram feed from this past month, we realized that a lot of the things we post over on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter we never get a chance to share here on the blog. So we thought it would be fun to share with you some of our “favorite things” from each month, and we will highlight them in a “favorite things” post at the end of each month.
1. First Day Hike of 2016
It had finally stopped raining here in western Pennsylvania so on New Year’s Day we rounded up the kids and dogs and hit a nearby park to have fun starting the year off with a first day hike.
2. Pennsylvania State Park Passport
For Christmas our camping buddies gave us this awesome Pennsylvania State Parks and State Forests Passport. With a full slate of PA state parks on our camping itinerary this year, we are excited to start collecting stamps in this cool book!
3. Lego themed camping sets
Sweet Pea used a Christmas gift card to buy this new Lego Friends Adventure Camp set. Featuring our family’s first “Lego” tent, it joins a few other camping related sets (this one
and this version,
both now retired) that our kiddos love to play with.
4. Camp food traditions
For years now we’ve been making these chewy granola bars to take on camping trips. Since camping season is still a ways off, we decided to enjoy our first batch of “Wazi-Tack” while we count down the days until warmer temperatures.
5. First family game night of the year
This game, called Camp, was another Christmas gift, and we all had a great time playing it. It is multi-generational, so everyone from preschool on up can get in on the fun. Plus the content is educational–score!

I’m intrigued by the Camp game….we might have to add that one to the collection!
They have a travel edition too–might be fun to keep in the camper! 🙂
