Who feels like February just began and can’t believe it’s already ending? The month was kind of a blur for us, but at least this year we snag an extra day thanks to Leap Day!
Last month we launched this “Favorite Things” series as a way to highlight some of the fun things going on behind the scenes here at The Touring Camper. We try to post daily over on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, but a lot of what we post on social media we never get a chance to share on the blog. So here are some of our favorite moments from February:
1. A new camper tie for the office
This was one of Jarrett’s birthday gifts, and it’s definitely one of his favorite ties now. Head over to Ties.com to check out the other camping options. (Want to save a little bit of money? RetailMeNot.com often has discount coupon codes.)
2. S.N.O.W. (finally!)
We’ve had such a mild winter–something you won’t hear me complaining about this year. But the kids really wanted to be able to go sledding, make a snowman, build a fort, etc. After a few light snowfalls, last week we finally received quite the storm, which left behind 8+ inches of packable snow just perfect for play.
3. National Parks Adventure
We took the kids to their first IMAX experience and caught a screening of the new National Parks Adventure. We left feeling inspired to keep exploring all of our nation’s amazing parks.
4. Creative kids
Our kiddos seem to have camping running through their veins because they are often dreaming up imaginative things like this extreme camper hauler … this model includes a “portable” picnic table and grill! (And loom bracelets make excellent car “straps.”)
And here is the “campfire” the boys created:
5. Spring … in February?!
Less than a week after we were snowed in, the temps rose to a balmy 64, the snow melted, and we took the kids out biking. Although biking isn’t my favorite thing (I loathe my very uncomfortable bike seat; we’re working on finding a replacement, so I’m open to suggestions!), I had fun being a goof-ball mom and demonstrating I might have a future in a circus act:

Do you have mountain bike or a
Beach cruiser? My bike seat used to kill my butt lol but now that I have a cruiser the seat is wider and softer So I can enjoy my bike rides more!
Hi Jamie! I have a Trek city bike that used to be a Bike the Sites bike. I’ve heard those cruisers are super comfortable: wider and softer sounds awesome. 😉
