Since our kiddos love camping so much, we’ve had fun giving them “camping” themed toys and activities for Christmas and birthdays in the past. Probably their favorite such gift has been Lego camper sets. Sweet Pea has the older LEGO Friends Adventure Camper, but this year Lego released a new car and trailer style camper (click on the pictures to view items):
Flash, meanwhile, has the Lego City camper:
A few years ago, the Lego Duplo line used to have a car and camper set that I snagged before stores stopped carrying it. Since it’s discontinued now, it’s way expensive on Amazon, but you may be able to find it on eBay for a cheaper price:
This Christmas the kiddos are each getting a camping-related toy. (Good thing they aren’t old enough to get online yet! Mums the word!)
For Sweet Pea, who loves her two American Girl dolls, I considered the American Girl camping accessories, but Target’s Our Generation camping accessories fit the budget better:
Flash loves Playmobil, and the company offers a couple of different camping sets, including this family tent camping pack:
For our little Tornado, this Learning Resources Camp Set will be a sure hit:
Other great gift ideas for camping kiddos would be items they could bring on a camping adventure to keep them busy on the road, on a rainy day, and around the campsite. I have a bunch of toy, game, and activity ideas listed here and here. I have also compiled a list of kiddo-approved camping-themed books here. Another idea would be to put together a critter kit complete with a firefly jar, a bug net
, and a book like this one
. That’s the kind of gift that will get hours of use–and make for a bunch of happy campers!
